“Family Conference” was included in the top 25 stories in Glimmer Train Short Stories for New Writer’s Competition-August, 2010

Thank you so much for participating in our August 2010 Short Story Award for New Writers—we really enjoyed your story! Although it did not win this time, I am happy to inform you that it did make the Top-25* list—congratulations. (That’s the top 2 – 3% of over a thousand submissions!) “Couple” was included in the 15 stories shortlisted in the international magazine “Short Fiction” out of the UK.

SFCC Writer’s Competition cash award went to “Family Conference” in 2009.

“The F Word” was awarded an Honorable Mention, May, 2011 for the New Short Story Writer’s Contest in Glimmer Train.

Garbage Picker of Memory won the Editor’s Choice Award at Inkspill Magazine out of the UK, Oct. 2011

My story “Garbage Picker of Memory” was nominated for a Pushcart prize by Valparaiso Fiction Review (published Dec. 2011)

My story “Pretend That Your Children Are Simpler Versions of You,” was nominated for a Micro Award by Stone Highway Review, October, 2012

Received a Pushcart nomination  for my poem “Lots of Swamp Out Here,” included in my chapbook, Reverberations, published by Deadly Chaps Press, Joseph Quintela, November 2012
